Troop 219 Scout Uniform Expectations
In keeping with the ideals of Scouting, the leadership of Troop 219 has set the following expectations regarding Boy Scout uniforms:
Scouts will wear the “Class A” uniform to all meetings and outings unless instructed to wear “Class B”; “Class A” uniform will be expected for Scoutmaster Conferences, Boards of Review and Courts of Honor – each BOR begins with a uniform inspection!
- “Class A” uniform includes: Scout pants (long, short or zip-off), Scout shirt (with all patches and badges in the proper places), Scout belt, Merit Badge sash, Scout socks, closed-toed shoes (brown leather shoes/boots preferred for Boards of Review and Courts of Honor); open-toed shoes/sandals are not permitted at Scout meetings/activities
- “Class B” uniform includes any Scout-related T-shirt or polo shirt, short or long pants and closed-toed shoes; open-toed shoes/sandals are not permitted at Scout meetings/activities
- All Cub Scout and Webelos awards/patches/etc. must be removed from the uniform – the exception being the Arrow of Light Award (it has a proper place on the Boy Scout uniform)
- The Troop will provide red or green “219” patches and red or green shoulder loops to each new Scout
- A “Hatchlings” (or other) Patrol patch will be provided to each new Scout
- The most current “Quality Unit Award” patch will be provided to each new Scout
We realize that the expected uniform items are not inexpensive so we will make some allowances for the first year Scouts:
- Merit Badge sash, Scout pants/shorts, Scout belt and Scout socks WILL NOT be expected for the “Scout”, “Tenderfoot” or Second Class” Boards of Review – they WILL be expected for “First Class” BORs and above
Every patch, award and badge your Scout earns has its proper place on the Scout uniform. Help in locating/positioning the various patches/badges is available inside the front and rear covers of the Scout handbook, online, or I am available to answer any questions you or your Scout may have.
